Rollei RPX 25
Characteristics
- Grain: fine
- Contrast: high
- Latitude: narrow
- Formats available: 35mm, 120
Rollei RPX 25 is Maco/Rollei's slow B&W film at ISO 25 — the slowest current-production B&W film globally (alongside discontinued Adox CHS 25 II). RPX 25 is designed for maximum-resolution work: ultra-fine grain, very high acutance, suited to landscape and scientific applications where resolution matters more than speed.
Key features
- ISO 25 rated; very fine grain
- High contrast — narrow exposure latitude
- Polyester base — dimensionally stable
- Available in 35mm and 120 in current production
- Manufactured by Maco in Germany under the Rollei brand
Workflow
- Box-speed development: D-76 1:1 at 7 min, HC-110 Dil B at 4 min, Rodinal 1:50 at 8 min
- Does not push well — gain a stop with care; EI 100 produces compressed shadows
- Pull to EI 12 in dilute developer for high-contrast scenes
- Tripod required at base ISO 25 in most lighting
Practical notes
- RPX 25 is the choice for maximum-resolution landscape and architectural work
- Compares to Ilford Pan F Plus 50 and the discontinued Adox CMS 20 II in the slow-fine-grain niche
- Reciprocity failure matters at long exposures; correction tables published by Maco
- Cold storage extends shelf life
