Zebra Dry Plates Black Glass

- Formats available: 4x5, 5x7, 8x10, 9x12 cm, Custom
Same ISO 2 orthochromatic silver-gelatin emulsion as Zebra's Standard Glass, but coated on black-painted glass. When developed normally, the silver image reads as a positive against the black backing — the same visual mechanism as a 19th-century glass ambrotype, but produced via a dry-plate workflow rather than wet collodion. No reversal processing required: a normal develop / fix sequence yields the direct positive directly.
Sizes match the Standard Glass line: 4×5, 5×7, 8×10, 9×12 cm, plus custom dimensions on request.
For practitioners who want to coat their own black-glass plates, Zebra's Silver Gelatine Emulsion Starter Kit provides the chemistry, and the DIY emulsion recipe on darkroomFYI provides a starting formula.
