Mamiya Mamiya-Sekor Z 110mm f/2.8
Introduced: 1995
Mamiya Sekor Z 110mm f/2.8 is the wide-normal lens for the Mamiya RZ67 system — equivalent to roughly a 55mm field of view in 35mm terms. The fastest standard lens in the Sekor Z lineup, and the most-common kit lens on used RZ67 bodies.
Key features
- Mamiya RZ bayonet — fits all RZ67 bodies (Pro, Pro II, Pro IID)
- Electronic leaf shutter — 8s to 1/400, X-sync at all speeds
- 77mm filter thread
- 6-element/5-group multi-coated formula — sharper at f/2.8 than the RB Sekor C series at their wider apertures
- Manual aperture + manual focus
- Provides aperture data to AE Prism finder for aperture-priority AE
Use case + rendering
The 110mm f/2.8 Sekor Z is the studio-portrait + general-purpose RZ67 lens. At f/2.8 wide open on 6×7 it produces shallow DoF roughly equivalent to f/1.4 on 35mm — invaluable for environmental portraits. The leaf shutter syncs flash at any speed, making it the standard studio-strobe portrait lens.
Sharper wide-open than older Mamiya Sekor C lenses; multi-coating gives better contrast against backlit subjects than single-coated C-series glass.
Compatible bodies
- Mamiya RZ67 Pro II
- Mamiya RZ67 Pro / Pro IID
- Mamiya RB67 Pro-S — via RB-RZ adapter, with stop-down metering only
