Fujifilm Instax Mini is the most popular integral instant film in current production — Fujifilm's small-format instant film for the Instax Mini camera family (Mini 9, Mini 11, Mini 12, Mini 40, Mini Evo, etc.). Instax Mini film produces 54×86mm credit-card-sized prints with a 46×62mm image area. Continuously produced since 1998; the Instax Mini camera family is the dominant consumer instant film product worldwide in 2026, having displaced Polaroid as the volume leader.

Key features

  • ISO 800 rated
  • 54×86mm pack with 46×62mm image area
  • Color print emerges within seconds; full development in ~90 seconds
  • Mass-market pricing — significantly cheaper per print than Polaroid 600/SX-70
  • No film-camera compatibility — Instax Mini film fits ONLY Instax Mini cameras (not Wide, not Square, not Polaroid)
  • Current production by Fujifilm; multiple variants (standard, monochrome, special editions)

Workflow

  • Insert pack into Instax Mini camera
  • Expose; print ejects through the camera's roller mechanism
  • Wait 90 seconds for full color development
  • No additional handling required

Practical notes

  • Variants available: Standard color, Monochrome (B&W), various special-edition borders (rainbow, black, sky blue, etc.)
  • Image area is small (46×62mm) — Instax Mini is fundamentally a snapshot format; not a serious photographic medium
  • Cold storage extends shelf life; expired Instax Mini produces color shifts and reduced contrast
  • Format incompatibility is a frequent buyer mistake — Instax Mini does NOT work in Instax Wide or Square cameras
