Fujinon C 300mm f/8.5
Fujinon C 300mm f/8.5 is the compact 8×10 normal symmetric design — Fujinon's "Compact" series uses a more compact symmetric formula than the W series, with extreme image circle for ULF coverage in a small package.
Key features
- Mount: Copal 1 shutter (1s to 1/400, X-sync at all speeds)
- Focal length: 300mm
- Maximum aperture: f/8.5
- Image circle: ~380mm at f/22 — covers 8×10 with movements; covers 11×14 tightly
- Optical formula: Compact symmetric plasmat
- Single-coated older; multi-coated later
- Substantially smaller and lighter than the W 300 or CM-W 300
Use case + rendering
The 300 C is the field-camera 8×10 normal Fujinon — the lens of choice for 8×10 backpacking landscape photographers who can't carry the full-size W 300. Sharpness comparable to W 300 / CM-W 300; smaller compact size at the cost of slightly slower aperture.
Compatible cameras
- Toyo 45A / Toyo 45AII / Toyo 45G — usable as 4×5 long-tele
- Cambo SC / Cambo Calumet 45NX
- 8×10 + 11×14 view cameras
