Pentax SMC Pentax 67 75mm f/4.5 Shift

Wide AngleMount: Pentax 6775mmf/4.5 – f/22
Introduced: 1983

The Pentax 67 system's only perspective-control (shift) lens — provides up to ±20mm of lateral shift relative to the optical axis, allowing the photographer to correct converging verticals (architectural buildings, tall structures) without tilting the camera. Distinct from the regular SMC Pentax 67 75mm f/4.5, despite the matching focal length and aperture — the shift lens has a substantially larger image circle to accommodate the off-axis shift movement.

For architectural photography, fine-art landscape with rising-foreground compositions, and product photography where parallel lines must remain parallel, the 75mm f/4.5 Shift is the only native option in the Pentax 67 system. Photographers who don't own this lens typically resort to digital perspective correction in post or step up to a view camera.

The shift mechanism rotates 360° in click-stopped 30° increments, allowing horizontal, vertical, or diagonal shift directions. Stopping down is mandatory for full image-quality assessment — at f/4.5 with shift applied, corner sharpness on the shifted side suffers (typical for shift lenses); f/11–f/16 is the working sweet spot.

Mounts on the inner bayonet. Filter thread is 77mm, slightly larger than the 67mm common on the system reflecting the wider image circle. Notably scarce on the used market — production was limited and demand from architectural specialists keeps prices high.

Notes

Pentax 67 system's only shift lens; scarce and priced accordingly.
