Pentax ME Super
Introduced: 1979 Discontinued: 1984

Pentax ME Super is the compact aperture-priority Pentax SLR — in production 1979-1986, the AE counterpart to the mechanical MX. The "Super" designation distinguishes this from the original ME; the Super adds manual mode alongside the original ME's aperture-priority-only operation, plus push-button shutter speed control (a distinctive ME-Super interface).
Key features
- Pentax K bayonet
- Electronic vertical metal-blade shutter — 4s to 1/2000 + B; mechanical 1/125 backup
- Aperture-priority AE + manual modes
- Push-button shutter speed control (distinctive interface)
- LED viewfinder display
- Battery-dependent for AE and shutter (mechanical 1/125 backup)
- Compact body
Practical notes
- ME Super bodies on used market: $150-300 working examples
- The push-button shutter speed control is unusual — easy to use once accustomed but unfamiliar to dial-trained photographers
- Common service item: shutter speed buttons can develop intermittent contact
