Fujinon W 135mm f/5.6

NormalMount: Copal 0135mmf/5.6 – f/64

Fujinon W 135mm f/5.6 is the classical Fujinon LF plasmat at slightly-wide-of-normal focal length for 4×5 — older single-coated W series, predecessor to the NWS and CM-W lineages. Equivalent to roughly 40mm on 35mm.

Key features

  • Mount: Copal 0 shutter (1s to 1/500, X-sync at all speeds)
  • Focal length: 135mm
  • Maximum aperture: f/5.6
  • Image circle: ~200mm at f/22 — covers 4×5 with movements
  • Optical formula: 6-element/4-group plasmat
  • Single-coated (older production); some later examples multi-coated

Use case + rendering

The 135 W is the older slightly-wide 4×5 normal — popular on used market for budget-conscious LF photographers. Sharp by f/22; older single-coated examples have lower contrast in backlit conditions vs modern multi-coated NWS / CM-W equivalents.
